Exodus

EXODUS 29:38 – 30:10

PASTOR’S NOTES

Now this is what you shall offer on the altar: two lambs of the first year, day by day continually.”

As we go through all of the directions and measurements of God’s law, we see that there is much to apply to our daily lives today, but also many directions that don’t.  For the last half dozen chapters, we read many examples of how Jesus changed what it means to be a follower of God.  No more sacrificing animals or priests taking our prayers to God to become right with the Lord.  Today much has changed with Jesus being the perfect High Priest, mediator, and savior.  Jesus came to fulfill the Law.   We now become right with God through placing our faith in His son!

However, there are truths that we read in God’s law that very much still apply to our walk today. In this week’s text, God calls Aaron to begin and end each day with a “fragrant offering.” This is a call to sacrifice, consistency, and priority.  God is directing those who are following Him to start and end each day with a God-first faith and worship.

Today the measurements might not be the same as we read in Exodus, but the message remains the same. God still calls us to a life that places our focus and consistency on our faith.  In the same way that the Israelites were called to begin and end with God being on their mind and heart, we are as well.

Jesus became our perfect High Priest and all loving Savior, to give greater life and to lift heavier burdens, not to weaken faith and worship! What Jesus has accomplished should actually be throwing us into a greater faith than what we read in Exodus.  Jesus became the sweetest of aromas on our behalf.  Jesus was the perfect sacrifice needed for forgiveness.  Let this truth throw us into a greater worship!

Paul speaks of this in Ephesians 5 as he calls us to become “imitators of God.”  Paul says this as he speaks on what Christ has accomplished.  The measurements have changed for us, but the message is the same.

God is everything, each and every day!

SCRIPTURE TO GO ALONG WITH THE MESSAGE
