In Exodus 30:11-16 there is a symbolic truth found here. The Israelites were required to pay a ransom for their life of a half shekel. No matter how much money they had it was the same price for all.
God was presenting 2 things to them that are symbolically for us on this side of the finished work of Jesus
1) We all owe God and atonement is required
2) God says what the ransom payment is
God the Son is the once for all atonement and he paid the debt we couldn’t pay. Trust Jesus!
