PASTOR’S NOTES
Therefore be imitators of God as dear children.”
Happy Easter church family!!! What an amazing week this week is for all those who believe! Each day leading up to Sunday should be a reminder of how great God is and all that Jesus has done for us. Such a gift that should transform our everyday life. Easter serves as a great example of what we read last week in Hebrews 12.
Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. Consider him who endured such opposition from sinners, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart.”
In our study of Ephesians, we are in the practicality chapters of the book. Remember, practicality is only possible through theology. Only when our eyes are fixated on the finished work of Jesus Christ, is a faithful life ever possible. Easter is a time when the entire world faces the truth about the greatness of Jesus! Even those who are lost and mock God and His word cannot escape the meaning of this entire week. No one can hide from the story of the cross!
For those who are believers, Easter week should fuel everything part of our life. The week of Easter should make the weak, strong and the strong, stronger! I encourage you this week to read the story of Jesus’s death and resurrection daily. I encourage you to read the story out of all four Gospels in your preparation to worship with us Sunday!
SCRIPTURE TO GO ALONG WITH THE MESSAGE
Read Mark 15 & 16 (entire chapters this week). These chapters are the death and resurrection of Jesus. If you are a parent, read them with your child. If you are married, read this with your spouse. If you live alone, read them alone daily. Do not let the week go by without reading these chapters.
