PASTOR’S NOTES
Finally, my brother, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might.”
I want to thank everyone who committed to our Ephesians study titled, “The Good News.” To go through an entire book while breaking down each verse is a blessing to anyone’s growth in faith. So many of us grew up bouncing around different books and chapters in the Bible each week. Most of us grew in Truth, but missed the bigger picture of what God was telling us. We can recite verses, but do not know how each book and character are connected and how the Gospel is interwoven throughout each page. It’s important to see the magnitude of God’s great message! As we close our study in Ephesians, make sure you see God’s message through Paul’s letter.
Chapter 1: “How can man sing in prison?”
Paul shines light on the unmovable riches of salvation. Salvation brings joy, peace, and hope that the world cannot remove.
Chapter 2: “Born in the graveyard.”
Paul teaches through the entire Gospel, from death to life. Salvation is made possible by God’s grace and mercy to the undeserving believers who place their faith in the finish work of Jesus.
Chapter 3: “Blind no more”.
Paul explains sanctification and how man goes from blindness to sight. Paul praises God for his new life and how the spirit has changed all aspects of who he is.
Chapter 4: “From theology to practicality”.
Paul calls believers to unity which is only made possible by holding tight to the Gospel. Chapters 1-3 gives opportunity to chapters 4-6.
Chapter 5: “Awake and Arise”.
Paul begins to challenge the people to not just open their eyes, but to move their feet. Paul reminds the people that now that they are saved, they are called to be imitators of the One who saved them.
Chapter 6: “Putting on the whole armor of God.”
Paul ends his letter in encouragement and instruction. Paul’s closing words highlight the spiritual war believers are in. Paul gives Christians the battle tactics to face the world and the enemy.
As you learn God’s word, its important that you see who is being said in the moment, but also the overall message. That you’re able to dive into verses, but also step back and see the central theme. Ephesians is a letter of how the Gospel changes everything. No matter what circumstances we are in, the Good News remains Good!
