PASTOR’S NOTES
But if anyone does not provide for his own, and especially for those of his household, he has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever.”
In this week’s scriptures Paul goes deeper into the blueprint of building God’s church. Paul has written to us about the importance of the message, power of prayer, leadership of men, and called us to train our spiritual muscles. Now he speaks to us about how to treat the people. The “people” of the church can be our blessing, mission, and also a disaster all in one. On any given Sunday, the church can be filled with every make and model. Not only do we have different personalities, but we also have different stages of life.
The church is filled with the young and the old. The newly wed and the widow. The spiritually wise and the believer who has been recently saved. In this unique culture of believers, there has to be blueprints of how to treat each other. There has to be a loving discipleship plan for the growth of God’s people and also the good of man.
In the week’s scripture, Paul speaks on just that. How to treat the different members of the body for the glory of God. I personally see this as a very important chapter for our church. Eastview might have started with just a few, but God has grown our church with exactly what we read about in the book of 1 Timothy. We have all the different seasons of life under our care. We have widows, all ages, and all many discipleship opportunities.
Knowing how to love and treat one another is perfectly timed for us!
