EPHESIANS 3

PASTOR’S NOTES

For this reason I bow my knees to the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ…..”

Ephesians 3:14 is such a beautiful verse, but also is a verse that should be a question for all those who read it.  What reason is it that Paul speaks about that calls us to our knees in worship? In this week’s scripture, Paul speaks about the Good News in the mystery of knowing Christ. The answer to verse 14 is simple; God’s revelation of His word and paths are worthy of worship.  To understand that which we use to not understand should drive us to the altar, faces to the floor.

In Ephesians 3, Paul is overwhelmed that not only would God reveal Himself, His word, but make those who are unworthy to become a part of the ministry of teaching the Good News to others. Paul not only remembers the “grave yard” in which he was born, he remembers the days in which he hated the church and had no desire to teach His word.  That God would use those who were blind and wicked to become His shepherds to the sheep is quite the mystery!

Prison can not keep the overwhelming joy of the calling of ministry out of Paul’s heart. In verse 13, he even sees his suffering as something he is blessed to go through on the people’s behalf. Once again, such a mystery to the world that has not been born again.

Today, God works in the exact same ways as we see in Ephesians 3.  He makes the blind see and calls the wicked into ministry. This should bring us to our knees! That God not only saves, but He uses.
