Exodus

EXODUS 23:20-33

PASTOR’S NOTES

Behold, I send an Angel before you to keep you in the way and to bring you into the place which I have prepared.”

Angels exist. There are all types of mysteries that surround them, but their existence is not a mystery,   Angels are real! Psalm 91 tells us, “He will command His angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways.” Angels are real and are creations and blessings from God!

In this week’s text, God gives His people an angel, an angel to guide them and help them on their way to the promise land. Now the question is, who is this Angel?  The word “Angel” means messenger in the early translation.  So some believe the angel is a person (either Moses or Joshua), some believe the angel is a literal unknown angel, and then myself and others believe the Angel is Christ.

I believe what we read in Exodus 23 is one of many examples of Jesus being present and walking with His people before He came in the Gospels.  Jesus is not a New Testament story, but a story that goes from Genesis all the way to the last passages in Revelation.  Jesus is all over the Bible!  Jesus has always been with us.

Angels are great, but Jesus is greater!

Not only did Jesus walk with His people before the Gospel in the Old Testament, but He is still walking with His people today. He says in the Great Commission, “And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”
