PASTOR’S NOTES
For this thing is too much for you; you are not able to perform it by yourself.”
How fitting this text is to the sermon that will be preached from our church. This week my family and I will be out of town and my friend and leader in the church Brent Dillahunty will be preaching. This is fitting because chapter 18 is all about others helping and serving for the survival of God’s people.
I personally can relate to this chapter in so many ways. I love ministry. My wife and kids love ministry. Ministry fuels our life each and every day. However, there have been many times where I have prayed for God to not let me run out of gas.
This is what Moses’s father-in-law saw in his ministry as well. Moses had a lot on him, an entire nation screaming and singing his way. Moses needed help!
From the Old to the New Testament, this message of needing others has been wisely given. Leaders need other leaders.
What we see in scripture is what we see in the church today. God raises up God’s men to lead and gives them others to carry the load with them. We all can be apart of this call. We can all be encourages, givers, servers, and peacekeepers. God has gifted some to be leaders, counselors, and servants. In those roles, not only do we service the church, but we also bless our pastors and other leaders.
SCRIPTURE TO GO ALONG WITH THE MESSAGE
Read the book of Titus as this is a very short book that focuses on leading, serving, and ensuring the longevity of the church.
