Pastor’s Notes
Words can not describe how much I enjoyed week 1 and chapter 1 of our Exodus study! Not only did I enjoy our start of this series, I heard from so many of you that you did too!! God’s word is awesome and growing close to God through learning more about His word is so rewarding. I am thankful for all of you who have committed to learning more about Exodus.
With all that being said, Exodus 2 keeps the momentum going. In this week’s text, we see the birth of Moses and how God’s plan is wonderfully orchestrated in unstoppable provisions. Remember chapter 1, where Pharaoh began to game plan around controlling the people of God. Pharaoh saw the promise God made to Abraham starting to come to reality and he began to work towards making sure that he did not lose control or power. His plan consisted of enslaving all the people of Israel, ordering the midwives to kill all new born males, and then commanded all of the people of Egypt to kill all male sons because the midwives refused. After chapter 1, Pharaoh believed he had a failproof plan to ensure that he never lost his kingdom. In chapter 2 and in the birth of Moses we see that no matter how hard man tries to control or prevent God’s plan, God always prevails!
In salvation, God always triumphs over evil. Always! Read the first 10 verses of Exodus 2 and try not to be amazed at how God not only delivers a wonderful plan, but has a plan that can not be stopped. God promised Abraham a “great nation” and a great nation is exactly what God was going to deliver! Pharaoh planned to stop God by ordering that all sons be kill by mothers throwing their children into the Nile river. Now see the villain’s plan and how God laughs in it’s face. Read the story church!! What did God do? His plan called for a male child to be born in secret and then float down the same river that was ordered to kill him, right to the Pharaoh’s doorstep! God is not concerned with the enemy’s attempt to alter His plans and promises. This truth is why we desperately need God as our savior. Today we need the God of Exodus!
