Galatians 2:1-10
PASTOR’S NOTES
Paul tells the people of Galatia, “I want you to know, brothers and sisters, that the gospel I preached is not of human origin.” When it comes to a grace or a works-based salvation, its very easy to tell the two apart. Even though the teachers of Galatia were making “small” distortions to the Gospel, even small distortions are very easy to see. All someone would have to do is look at the life of the individual you professes to be saved. One of the greatest proofs that God is real and good can be seen in the lives of those He calls His. Salvation is miraculous! The Holy Spirit that lives inside a believer is transforming! Sanctification throughout a Christian’s life can not be explained outside of God’s goodness. These are all assurances that God is real and good. Evidence that works can not accomplish. No matter how hard someone tries, effort will always at some point tire out. Transformation by grace never tires and will always shine bright! This is what we see in Paul’s life at the end of chapter 1 and at the start of chapter 2. Paul gains the ears of the people of Galatia not by pointing to how great he is or all that he done, but a message of grace that has changed his life.
