1 & 2 Peter

2 Peter 1:16 – 2:11

Pastor’s Notes

In life there are many life lessons to be learned. Some lessons are learned by other’s success and then there are times when we learn from other’s failures. This reality is what we see in 2 Peter this week.

In this week’s text, Peter begins to shine light on what the wrong road looks like and the dangers of not heeding his words that were already spoken in chapter one.

In chapter 2, Peter uses 3 events in the bible to connect to events that he was seeing in his time and events that we would also see in ours. Peter speaks about the dangers of being blind, deaf, and then also naive. peter shows us the other side of the coin of what it means to walk in faith. Peter encourages by leading us to the road filled with joy and peace, but also warns us of the dangers of what lies on the road most traveled. The road that leads to death and destruction.
